LGB Tram Car Protocol

Even for me it was not easy to find the order form, But here is a link to the English order form.

What you have to do is easy. Find the LGB part number, you get it by using the pdf file, by catalogue number of the roiling stock. It is not all available all Lgb locos or cars. Peter

Thanks Peter,

Much appreciated and very helpful.

I am going to work on establishing what parts I can obtain rom Champex, for as you pointed out I need the back plate that features the controller too, and the circuit board. Model Land only have the front plate and the circuit board.

I may end up following your original posting for my yellow tram!

Here is what I plan to do with both my open balcony tram sets:

I will use these parts and a diode:

The cable needs the sleeving to be heat shrunk and a diode placed in circuit, so the white light is purely directional. I have to replace some of the trim too and paint the tops of replacement gates to match the rest

This tram and trailer were bought secondhand from a model shop in Sandown, Isle of Wight in the late 1980s. It had already lost two gates and and has seen a great deal of use by me. It had a replacement motor fitted a couple of years ago. It now needs a few cosmetic tweaks to get through through the next 30 years!

All Done now, on the 3600 Trailer....

The missing trim has been replaced. The new one-peice gates painted. The new directional 'front' light installed and the old tail lights (that were home fitted as the model was too old to have them from new) have been replaced and made directional.

The coupling hooks at the outer ends have been removed, as they were never used, and metal wheels have replaced the plastic ones.

I just need to warnish the paint on the gate tops to give it some sheen.

I will do the 1988 tram over the next day or two, but that requires a lot less work!

I played around with the yellow tram trailer today and was quite pleased with the result. This meets my needs.

I think given the high potential cost and uncertainty surrounding obtaining the correct LGB bits to do the Peter/Arthur type modifications, I think that I will settle for this for the the time being at least.

All three of my tram trailers now have similar modifications. The mounting here was done with with a home made bracket to slightly raise and support the lamp behind the window.

Thanks to everyone for their help and the very interesting postings.
