& apples is apples
now each pallet at 4 cartons high holds 32 cartons, done 6 pallets so far so thats 192 cartons
& NO
I havent made that many individual cartons, I did a shortcut
made a box out of ply, free from the recycle centre

But back to the plot, bit of juggling with the art work on publisher.
And covered the box with card print out
while this looks ok from a distance
for a close up when photographing, its too uniform, all box edges in an exact line
so will request the lady of my life to donate some cling wrap & that should give a more real look
same as I did with the the first pallet load of individual boxes

Well, there's a double yolk there! Very inspirational. I wonder, when was palletisation (as we know it today) first introduced? Dying to find an excuse to "borrow" your ideas.

Pallets are first recoded in use in the late 1800's. the first high lift fork truck was about 1915.
The modern 4 way entry pallet was around by 1950.
Goods were being loaded into American trains on pallets by 1931.
Moving supplies in the second world war increased the use of pallets considerably. Much of the American supplies were palletised but were probably craned out of the ships hold. I cant find reference to loading and trucking on pallets at this time.
I recall plastic spin wrap machinery being installed in the early 1980's and the job was done by hand before that - so the '70's looks likely for plasric 'spin wrap'.

Empty cartons arrive flat packed in bundles of 30 to 50 depending on size & weight
just done one bundle & instead of wasting ink by glueing good ones together, did a page of art work with just the coloured inks 4mm wide where the folds come cut side slots for flaps & glued togather with a full print copy top & bottom
I could, I suppose make a full pallet of such bundles, but not planning to do at this point in time

Add few loose flat folded cartons
add some open & empty boxes
now I need abouit 5 million apples to fill them with
yellow beads with a bit of red flush added in acrylic???

so in 1/12 that would be just under 3 inches, decent sized apple!!

they are between 5.8mm and 6mm.
so you got oranges, sour apples, apples - even tomatoes (the hollandish mammoth size)

You should have watched that thing on tele about Ae Weiwei, the Chinese artist who designed the "Bird's Nest" Olympic stadium. He's got a display at the Tate Generator Room that's just millions of sunflower seeds.........except that they are all ceramic and each one is individually painted. Apparently they are so thick on the floor that you cant reach down to the bottom. Of course, he didn't have to make them all himself.
