LS Newbie - Lady Anne or Caledonia

(must be fustrating for Tony and others but great for Geoff, that Lightline has become a name in our hobby to match Hoover and Ipod/pad, whenever people think lining the only name people think of is lightline)
I am a huge admirer of Geoff's work and have sub-contracted a job or two to him in the past when I have considered them to be too complicated for me to do. Geoff has successfully set the standard that I, and others, try to emulate. The difference between Geoff and myself is that Geoff only does lining, whereas I will do other work (repairs, modifications, etc.) as well in a one-stop-shop type of way. With regard to paintwork, the one thing that I offer that Geoff does not is the ability to have a loco finished in a satin or matt finish rather than the factory-finish very shiny gloss. For example...

Very nice, have you done any black locos in matt/satin? I'm considering some options for my Accucraft Lyn, but I always associated black locos as being gloss!

Tony,
My appologies for not mentioning the fine work you did on my Shawe/Roundhouse Jack.
The picture speaks for itself. She is the pride of my fleet.

Let us not forget Sir Haydn of Berry Hill Works , posts on here from time to time & offers similar services.

Not always Tony, he can be persuaded

This is my Green Accucraft Lawley, given a makeover by Geoff

I like that Keith - not for my line its true - but I do like it.

Hi, I have four roundhouse locos two kit built , i find the 040s are far better on uneven track, the silver lady having a slightly longer wheelbase has to go slower around tight curves. If you choose use a manual loco i find the 040s slightly better aswell, if they stop on a uphill section they just build up steam and are of again fairly quickly and controlled where as the silver lady may need some encouragment, if your track is nice and level though the silver lady goes round so slowly pulling a heavy load. Havnt got and photos or videos of silver lady around my friends track which is extremly level, if you go on youtube and look for encore1332 you will see my trains around my rather uneven track.
of course if you get a lady ann with rc you wont get any of my issues

I used to love watching Katie stop at the bottom of the 3% grade from my lower deck to the upper. She would then build up a head of steam, and proceed to walk up the hill. You could count the chuffs; and that was before I got my Summerland Chuffer.

I know this is quite an old thread, but I just wanted to thank everyone again for their help, and let you know that I've made a final decision...

After much agonising and debating, I've decided I'm going to go for something completely different to my original question... an Accucraft Leader!
I have to say I have a thing for saddle tanks, and as it sounds like the 6-coupled locos might be a bit too big for my line, I think it'll fit the bill nicely.

Reservation has just gone in to Track Shack for a maroon one with RC fitted! I'm thinking LMS style yellow lining will probably be the order of the day.

Thanks again, pictures will of course appear as and when it arrives.
