Yesterday we had a visit from an Aristo Mikado. I had not seen one before and was surprised by the custom airline style case, electronic ignition and a host of other features. We put it next to the EBT Mikado for contrast. Here is a pic

As requested here is another pic.
Underneath the coal load there is a control panel for the control of regulator, Johnson Bar and bell whistle etc. Control of gas is manual. This is a radical departure from regular live steam. There is also a Train Engineer type handset for remote control.

Nice looking mikes sadly the live steam Aristo won't go round my line as it needs 10ft curves and I only have 8ft I do have the electric model that just goes round .

My friend has one and its a great running engine and looks sharp. Its a very smooth runner. I had the Arsito 0-4-0 live steam switcher that had the same features. Its a shame Aristo no longer makes them. Its a good deal for what you get, radio control, electronic ignition, sound, lights, and a nice carrying case. .
