When I say straight, I meant it would be a little less bent than the corners, (thanks to plants that she who must be obeyed doesn't want removed). I agree with you Steve. To my mind, to have a square railway with rounded corners and long straights comes within the realm of train sets and not models railways.

A bit like this, then

The Tenmille track turned up. 1.5 metre lengths. It looks too brassy for me. Not as bad as Aristocraft, but enough to put me off and think of going to Peco only. It looks like cheap costume jewellery. Does it weather down? I hope so.

The first bend will take about 5 feet to do the 90 degree turn. The top end curves will be easier. The bottom right curve will take 4 feet to do the 90 degree turn. That leads into the station area. That area is just over 2 foot wide by 8 feet long. The whole thing will be square in shape roughly.

I haven't been able to draw it yet but by your map Rhinochugger, point 9 to 2 is the cursed first curve. There will be some points where your straight bears left. The left hand line will rise, the right hand one will stay level. That will go under the top line at point 5 and they join together again to run into the station and then go to the right hand bottom curve.

From there it goes across the removable bridge and joins onto the other part again. I will draw out the plans and paste it when I can get hold of a scanner.

These would suit me perfectly. The only thing is they are many miles away in Crete.
