Mk2 Accucraft Baguley 0-6-0D; first pictures

I agree I have a set of sugar trucks just weighting for the yellow but I think it needs black or red chevrons on the back and front.

In fact I don?t think I have ever seen them without them.

The big question for me is how will they run over LGB points????????

Well, my mind was set on a black one , but now I am very tempted by the maroon. I'm sure I read somewhere that the gearbox problem was the reason for the root & branch remodelling.

Yes Garry, the old gearbox wasn't exactly the most advanced in the world and could be very noisy. Gear train was probably a better description as it wasn't a box at all.

The other problem with the Mk1 version was the lack of weight. Goodness only knows how Accucraft got it to work in testing without adding any? Still, well done them if they have addressed these issues with the new version.

The old drive is noisy but mine hasn't given any problems and saved the cost of a sound decoder ;) I added weight at front and back which improved pickup and hauling ability. At least the early ones are easy to get apart to sort that out.
As for the new batch I wanted yellow but maroon is looking very tasty too, prob go with yellow and add wasp stripes and paint the frame black.

Didn't the early version have a bit of a side to side gait when it ran, I presume Accucraft have ironed that out now

Well I was up for a black one........but I do like the red...... does anyone know how many AA batteries I could get in there? :)

You need about 14.5 volts for a realistic speed, so it's 12 x AA batteries. Plenty room in the cab if you don't minds sawing the legs off your driver.

Talking to someone who has had the sample in their hands the chassis is built like a well engineered brick outhouse! Very impressive by all accounts, thick frames, quality motor and gears.

Happy steamings,

John

Well I have decided , and reserved a red one, I have until Feb to find some British Railways coach roundels for the cab sides .

Gearbox has been fine on my Mk1, but the wheels aren't brilliant and have lost plating after only light use, leaving ridges in the wheel treads which soon picks up any crud. Are the wheels different (better) on the Mk2 chassis?

Now I thought the yellow would look awful, but no, oi loikes it. But then again the blue looks very good too.

Maybe I'll just re-chassis my mark 1, althought I've had no issues with it (where's the fingers crossed emoticon), and if I did that I'd need to build something on the old chassis of course, can't just have it sitting there. Oh the choices :confused:.

I thought I would share my thoughts on the Mk2 (Track powered) now I have had chance to run her a couple of times. The purchase process was as smooth as could be wished thanks to the folks at Trak Shak, another happy customer here.
The loco comes with an A4 sheet of instructions, which inform the reader that the gearbox is factory lubricated and suggests lightly lubricating the around the bearings and rods which I did. General specification is given as, Motor: 0-24 volts, Scale 1:19 (16mmto 1 foot) Minimum Radius 2 feet (600mmor LGB R1). I weighed her at just above 1.9Kg on the kitchen scales.
I set her off on her own for a while, light engine. I did notice that a slight "waddle" is still evedent. Noise from the gearbox was audiable , but no more intrusive than say a LGB Stainz. Power is picked up from all 6 wheels. In the pictures the matt finished brick red colour shows up as more of an orange colour (?) To my eye she looks no different to the Mk1

The first coach was added, then another 2, she was then left to plod along like this for a while

I added the rest of the coaches up to 6 , which represents the longest train I would typically run. The six coach train was able to set off from a standing start on the steepest gradient on my line , about 1 in 36, without any sign of wheelspin or other drama.

It did slow however on the sharpest bend which is at the top hill, radius unknown as the track was customised to fit, but I would guess that it is about 3foot ish radius, going the other way where the bend gradually tightens did not slow it at all. She was able to do all this at a realistic scale speed without being pushed down hill at a breakneck speed by the coaches.
All in all I am well pleased with her,:thumbup::thumbup: she has a good solid feel to her, in no way flimsy. I cannot say if she's any better or worse than the MK1 as I have never owned one.

Posed with an LGB 4 wheeler, for those who may wish to run them together.

Great Pic's, looks Very Good, thanks.

But how about the wheels?
Do you have LGB points & if so how do it run over em?

Nope 81A, Accucraft points, I sure someone will let us know how she goes on LGB Points
Cheers Ti

It looks bigger than I thought they were, seems to tower above the LGB coach, even seems to make the IOM coaches look small?
Still looks great though

Cheers
Steven
