Here is my first attempt at G Scale.  Waiting for delivery of our Accucraft Mortimer later this week. We built the bridges ourselves.

Excellent! More pics please ;) :D ;D

Hope you are in to slow running Ron! It's a long way down if it comes off at the bend(s) Otherwise, very best of luck!!!!!!

I must admit that was my first thought too, Roly - a long drop if something derails.... ???
That aside, welcome to the forum, Ron, hope you enjoy it - and the bridges look great!

Jon.

Looks very nicely made, well done. Like the others, I can't help thinking that's a long drop to risk, especially with something as variable as live steam? Some railings are in order to avoid disaster, maybe just some unobtrusive thin wire and posts?

Excellent start, and home-made bridge too!
As has been mentioned, posts and wire might avert a little disaster or a 3 inch platform angled around the non-bridged edges would also allow a bit of simple trackside detail to be placed alongside the rails

Looks good Ron. I'll look out for the steam plumes when I drive from the Panhandle to Tampa at the end of the month!

Certainly looks good and at a good operating height, so no bending down, but precautions against the operation of the law of gravity seem in order. Beavercreek's suggestion sounds a good one.

Thanks for the comments! We will be installing some chain barriers at the curve points. We originally considered a ground level layout but we have a large dog so we ruled that out. I am a retired marine engineer so I will definitely be going easy on the throttle. The loco should be here today so after a day or so of looking it over and getting her oiled up we may fire her up over the weekend. I have ordered 2 flat wagons and a one open box wagon from Houston Gate Loco in the UK to get started with.

Keep the pics coming ;D :D :o ???

Our loco arrived today from the UK in top shape.  We got it from Garden Railway Specialists which appears to be a nice outfit to deal with.  Have to get some steam oil so won`t have her under steam until next week.
