MyLocoSound not responding to TV remote

I have an MLS soundcard on my new-to-me Accucraft  Mona, along with a Piko 35040 receiver. As previously mentioned, there is a jarring electronic noise as it slows down. I thought it might be a distorted brake squeal, which I hoped to program 'off'. I picked up a tv remote control at the weekend (thanks, PhilP PhilP !) and have watched ge_rik ge_rik 's excellent video, but the problem is that the remote doesn't seem to work with the soundcard: I get no beeps from the card, and the LED on the soundcard only flashes when the fob remote is pressed for the first time. I've changed batteries, and bought a second remote today, in case the first was faulty. Is there another way of programming the card? It may be an early one:

The serial number appears to be PLC009:

Check the remote is setup for a Sony:

Set the code to 0140.

PhilP.

Does your My Loco sound card have that little infra-red receiver ? I had one where the wires came loose from their soldered connection to the board. I only discovered their looseness by accident.

Patrick, you should have also received a remote sensor, on a short length of cable..
This plugs into the small white connector on the board. - In case there is a problem with the onboard sensor.

PhilP.

I was advised by Andy at Micron, that some MLS use code 0495, I have found this correct especially with some "Premium" cards.

Thanks; 0140 worked for this one, but I'm guessing that it's 10+ years old...

Thanks to all who helped with this while I was asleep in Australia. Northsider, just email me at sales@mylocosound.com if you need more help. However there are four steam soundcards ... British, American, Australian and Universal and I will need to know which you have.

Hi Peter, I think I'm all sorted now, but thank you for your response. The problem was that I didn't realise that I had to set the remote control first: once PhilP PhilP had tipped me off about that, it was all plain sailing. It is either a British or universal card -I managed to summon up all sorts of whistles and bells- but is now making distinctly British sounds, which is what I want.
It is good to know that there is manufacturers support if I need it!

ge_rik has pipped in and as ever his blog is a great help on how to do most things including setting beats per resolution where a sensor is not present. i have followed his YT vids and never been let down except by my own ineptitude.

Always glad to hear that my scribblings or vids have been of some help.
