Mystery loco

thought so initially too, after comparing the pics I realised, though being similar, the spacings of the wheels of the two chassis are actually different - the Wangerooge has got an even spacing whereas the Waldenburg has a larger spacing between the first and the second axle and a tighter between the second and third axle - in line with the prototype - also the rod system is different on both machines...

An update on the M-D-T loco.

The servo connections were successfully repaired yesterday and we were able to fire her up.

I confess I was doubtful that she would run well, if at all, but I was pleased to be proved wrong. The burner is quiet and working pressure was reached in less than 5 minutes. A small amount of condensate was cleared and she was off, as smooth as you like, with controllable slow running. The auto uncoupler works as well. Not bad for a 20 year old that has been in store for a long time.

The loco is of unusual design, and some aspects are not very user friendly - you have to turn it over to put in the steam oil and there is no pressure gauge. The old style r/c works well but has limited range.

Here are a few pics of her first run since restoration. Next time we will try it with more of a load.

Steve - should be a more or less (though slightly smaller) a standard battery block like Sanyo or similar 4.8V / 1400 mAh ...
