So Tony, it's 4 days later, what have you found out? Does the loco stall or short?

I have about 40 Peco points that have been in the elements for decades and half of these have been relaid where we now live in East Sussex coast. They are pretty robust but weather and use long before coming south cause the n/s spot welded link straps fracture and the short connector on the moving blades corrodes and becomes insulated. Soldering wires across becomes vital. Also the small ferrous screw on the blade pull bar rust and seize. This should have been s/s or even brass. Peco told me they have thousands and sent me a packet to replace - fair enough OK! Clearances of wheel flanges have been a problem with visiting locos causing jamming and derailments in the past. "At owner's risk" I always said! The LGB skates still stop their locos unless running quite quickly. Varnish can help but there is I believe a metal acid etch paint in black that insulates but yet to find a source. Have other mods to discuss too like making a Peco diamond-made two 1) with their point parts unsulfrog 2) live frog and checks as we used to do in 00 using fibre bases. That was great fun.Hi
I am having trouble with my Peco points. Steam runs Ok over them all but my new Accucraft Baguley (electric) stalls at the frog. I have tried jumper wires but this stiil results in stalling. It sema to happen when the middle unflanged wheel is over the centra of the frog. Any advice gratefully received as this is driving me bonkers!

I don't think the Acc Baguley Diesel has skates, so it could be a couple of things.Hi

Does the centre axle have a bit of vertical play? (Necessary if the track has even a slight hump)
As has been said elsewhere, are the other four wheels all collecting power? (Which is why you need a bit of vertical play on the centre axle)
