Plants to survive the cold.

Funny. Do not hear much about the Ozone layer these days.

That is largely because a couple of years ago it was found to have reduced in size which did not sit happily with the "Doomed, ye are all doomed" brigade.
The whole issue of the hole in the ozone layer is a scientifically unproved one. There is no impirical evidence that it is an increased problem as prior to 1972 no one even knew it existed simply because there were no satellites to identify it.
There is also something of a myth about carbon dioxide causing global warming. Examination of polar ice thousands of years old shows no evidence that CO2 played any part in previous "warm" periods.
It is all good stuff to increase taxes but where do the global warming taxes go?

Even though our temperatures dropped, I gather, to -14C remarkably few plants have succumbed. Certainly dozens of hybrid primulas are lost but plants such as the Curry Plant, White Rock and even many succulents which look as if they would give up at the mere hint of frost, are still surviving. We have had two pink flowering shrubs and a large pot of pansies in flower throughout. Perhaps they are simply deep frozen!
