Regner 'Betty'

I believe that this was a request by Martin's models to appeal to the 16mm maket.
Martins do a conversion to 32mm gauge. Saw one a Llanfair. Price tag circa £1300.

Drools...

See what I mean about the R/C....:@ I'm thinking about making a bunker behind the cab to put it in.
I think that's a decent price for a 32mm conversion, as it is very involved - this isn't an outside framed loco where you just have to move the wheels in.

For translating the Betty instructions, Regner post soft copy here:
http://www.regner-dampftechnik.de/service/translation_sites/20790_betty_translation.php < Link To http://www.regner-dampfte..._betty_translation.php

Then one can use the on-line translation tools such as Google. It is not ideal but does work.

Yeah, that's what I did, but Google translation doesn't know engineering! It was a help, but it was the most difficult bits where it lets you down. That and the parts it just doesn't even mention.....Mr Regners fault, that one!

I don't know what has happened but the usual wits have not come uop with any ooh Betty jokes....anyone got a photo of one with a Frank S? :rolf::rolf:

Nice, sort of tempted though doesn't seem as Betty is still offered in kit form? Look forward to more pics of it in action.

I thought it only came as a kit, JR - Martin's Models builds them for UK customers.

TBH I'd sell it if it hadn't been left to me in a will - it's not really my cup of tea. It was satisfying to see it run though, for JJ's memory. RIP John.

Thanks Neil, I'll check with Martins Models when the time comes, with negative german language skills I had assumed it was assembled, makes it much more attractive in kit form to me. :)

It's a model I think you would enjoy building, John. It's a step up from Manawanui with 'proper' (ahem) cylinders and simplified Walschearts valve gear but is not so complex as to cause you any major panics! At the end of the day it's a pretty good loco, shame about the destructions being in German only.

You also have access to information from a pal who managed to build one! ;););)

Oh, as an update, I fitted some stainless gauze to the burner last weekend, which has quietened it down a lot, but it didn't steam anything like as well - I have yet to investigate to see if that is due to the gauze, or a partially blocked burner jet, or because it was a horrible cold and very windy day! If the gales we are currently having ever abate, I will investigate! It's been very windy for 6 weeks really here, and I thought it was JR who lived in the 'Windy City' of Wellington!

Slightly off course, I have a Regner Austrian U2. I am looking to get rid of it via Martins Model Railways as he has a buyer for it.

Lovely beast but it is just not my thing, I wonder what it is worth as a second hand baby via a dealer. A new one will set you back over 2 grand I believe.
