Rio Grande has just out-shopped the first 3 vehicles for its new narrow gauge tourist train. Ex RhB, re-gauged, re-painted and refurbished.

410:
2/3rd baggage with conductors office. 1/3rd generator car with diesel engine and alternator set for powering the complete consist when pulled by steam!
405:
1st class observation car, similar to the RhB version but different window config.
408:
Restaurant car.

The two 2nd class vehicles are still in transit from Europe!!

What's the motive power to go with them? Are you electrifying the C&S or the D&S a Ge 4/4 II in DRGW livery? :)

2x Ex WP&YRR Alco's. 601 re-painted & 110 still awaiting a new coat of paint...........

:love::thumbup:beautifull repaints!! love it..

It would be great to see the second of the Alcos in a freight version of the Rio Grande livery with orange lettering :)

My original thoughts to ths was Oh No! However now that you have posted the White Pass Diesel repaint that matches it all so perfectly I think YES.

There is of course on further thinking Prototype Residence for this kind of excersize. Think Eurostar Sleeping Cars in Canda.

All credit for a superbly executed bit of Protoimagination.

Sacrilege, that was what my first thought of this topic, but how wrong can you be.

Impressive..

Interested, in having a close look at the tail lights, could you post a close up?

well living in colorado, having time on the ski train

i have to say, you really captured a plausible feel for rio grande
while obviously, as you know no such thing ever was

what i find, is that your scheme actually reminds me of 50's type equipment, like on the pikes peak rr, and other lines which were experimenting or buying euro equipment (like the krauss maffei), even the short lived silver vista on the durango, with its silver scheme and flying logo

well done indeed as, when i look at it it seems perfectly right
even the diesel repaint works to my eye

so, this to me is in fact wonderfully well done artistic license that works

have to say , you are brave repainting RhB stock , which is always so costly, even used
i too would love to see the tail lights more closely, and, if you would be so kind, lighted too, please sir!

i can just see these covered with a thin layer of light brown spray, sitting on a bright and sunny snowy siding, steam lines making clouds
very clever

Thanks guys for all your kind comments.
It did take a while to pluck up courage to tackle the RhB re-paints. When it came to cutting out the windows, I sat there thinking this could go very wrong??.
This is the Alco when the paint was fresh, I?m thinking of re-painting the other one all over yellow (have to do that anyway before I mask off for the black) May put it back together loosely to see what it looks like in all over yellow.

Will try and get a picture of the tail lights soon
