Sawmill/logging complex

A word of warning Roly, I remember reading in Garden Railways (I think?) a report from a chap who had laid his railway on wood chips. In his own words the one thing he had forgotten to take into account was the fact that wood floats - until the first downpour that was, when he went out to find all of his track UNDER a blanket of wood chips.

That really does set it off:thumbup: Declare U.D.I. and keep the bark:rolf::rolf::rolf:

Thanks for the link John.
A nice video by Alan - a relaxing trip around a lovely line. The view from the line with the logs and everything adds another perspective - it does look good Roly:thumbup:

What a brilliiant sawmill. When I was in Canada a couple of years ago we visited McClean Mill near Port Alberni, a steam powered sawmill, railway and museum. Also we visited the BC Forestry Museum in Duncan. Both great days out, with good websites for research. I'm currently reading an ebook about the early loggers at Lake Cowichan Canada which gives some idea of the hard life in the early 1900's.

Also I love your cranes!

Its gone! Anyone want a big bag of bark FOC?
Have decided to use fake grass in the "Domestic" area and along the fence and leave it at that.
Meantime here's a video that Allan (Annieshalt) took yesterday, if the link doesn't work go to Youtube and enter roly's woodyard in the search box http://youtu.be/gmxMTF8dZ
I'm contemplating fake lawn as well, I saw some that was putting green grass that had been given a very light mist of coffee coloured spray paint and it I must say looked superb, much like the real thing.
