Don, I was wondering about progress.

Had a few exchanges of email with Rick.
During the forthcoming 4 Mildreds' worth of cruise I hope to buy a few figures on site as a souvenir of Hawaii.
Turns out Rick's base is not actually L.A. but 8 hrs North nearer S.F., so a meeting is not practicable.
Current plan is to visit his son at Waikiki and collect the souvenirs.
Doubtful about the economics of saving postage!
I only hope my subsequent paint jobs will do justice.

Look forward to some pics of yours!

I'm a little envious Rob, I've always wanted to go to Hawaii - must be those straw skirts

It'll be a time 'til I start painting them up, but for now I'll take some virginal pictures (must stop thinking about those skirts) and post them soon.

There is some flash to get rid of ( no, not in the photography  ), but you can see the quality of the scuplting...

I had experiences... These were double "D" size
Looking forward to Hawaii....
Now then... Yes, very fine sculpting.
I've looked at the more neutral types suitable for British situations.
Avoided the "surprised blonde" though - stop it!!
Rather liked "Joan" - got to be Joan Hickson as Miss Marple, but not in stock in Honolulu.
We'll see on the day.

I've had a look Mel - there doesn't appear to be anything messy

(Actually that's the only figure I'm not really happy with - very very very thin.)

Well, D-day is nigh. Locos are mothballed indoors for the duration.
We depart tomorrow (Monday) on the first leg of the trip.

The trip went quite well, SWMBO is very happy about it.
On the downside, the rendezvous to collect my figures failed, largely due the guy's son having his work schedule changed at virtually the last minute.
I had to resort to the traditional method of shipping, and the figures arrived this morning.
It's been said before - they are exquisite, with just some moulding flash and pedestals to clean up.
I picked out those with the most "UK" appearance.

The guy on the left here is a recent addidtion, described as Guinness Driver - I HAD to have him!

The lady is "Aunt Joan" - got to be Joan Hickson in Miss Marple guise.

I only hope I can do an acceptable paint job, which will take some time.
Here's an extra pic of the tourist "Sugar Cain" train on Maui:-
