Actually, virtually none of the locos manufactured in the US have a polarity switch. Of course there are virtually no locomotives manufactured in the US! (couldn't resist! They are made in China dontcha know?).
Anyway, USAT and Aristo do not come with polarity switches.
Bachmann usually do, but the type 66 was unusual in that part of it was made by Aristo.
Did you find any switches on it, like lighting switches? If the polarity switch exists, it would be there.
Failing that, I endorse P's suggestion.
