Sound Tender

Howdy, thought I'd create a new thread for this to keep the Aerotrain build thread clean. The goal here is to create a tender for my Stainz that could house the guts from the sound boxcar. I want to pull coaches and don't very much like the looks of a boxcar in the mix! For scale, it is currently as wide as the Stainz cab at 105mm. Thoughts?

I am not sure about the upper part being 'stepped' in from the lower section?
Most seem to be slab-sided. - Possibly for ease of construction, and strength?

But it is your railway, and your design.. Is it easier to print like that?

I see your point. I can't remember where that thought of doing it like that came from but you have inspired me to see what it looks like flush after work so thank you!

Howdy, how about some thoughts, ideas, critique for V2...coal load is removable to access the board, speaker and 9v. Need to fine tune the details and punch holes for separately fitted parts.

Edit** Now that I posted it and looked at the pictures, I think I need to sink those buffer bars in a bit. To me they seem to stick out a bit much!

Tenders need a space for water, typically the coal space slopes from the rear giving that water space below. In your case you need that area for the electrics thus the coal can sit over it thus making it invisible as pervthe second set if drawings. Coupling between the loco and tender is normally semi permanent thus the vac pipe would be a different setup below a fall plate for the crew to stand on behind an open cabbed loco. However prototype is on your side as in Scotland many small locomotives had a coal wagon behind the loco just for extra coal out on the line for the day, this was on BR and in colliery lines.

Fresh off the printer this morning, only main supports removed. Hand shown for size reference.

Ordered some better, smaller speakers to replace the 2" one connected to the LGB sound board. Decided I will pull the pickup bogie from the boxcar and see what that looks like with the tender shell...more to come, with pictures!!!
