Hi,

I have a USA Trains GP/9 and 30 and I am going to install a QSi sound decoder in both. My question is can anyone recommend what speakers I need. I want quality to get a good overall sound. Also can I use other speakers as opposed to QSI

It is also mentioned that these decoders can have two speakers in each loco. If that's the case one goes underneath in the usual place, the other where exactly.

Cheers

Steve

Have a look here. Several speakers especially for sound decoders. Usual tip is to use the larges that will fit.

I use Visaton ones..nice bass especially when in the GP9 and GP30 chassis pods

No question is silly
The QSI decoder is happy with any 8 ohm speaker and the Visaton ones are spot on.
If you are interested try Rapid online:

Would I still need to get an enclosure for these speakers

Because the 'pod' under the chassis on the GP9 and GP30 are a good size, all you need to do is to use hot glue (glue gun) or mastic to seal around the front of the speaker to the bottom of the pod and the pod itself will act as the encosure

No problem
That's what this forum is really good for...advice, help and banter.....
