Hello, I recently acquired a new LGB 28006 Ruub locomotive (pictured below), it comes with MFX decoder and many functions, but to my surprise it doesn't include energy storage capacitor bank. it constantly gets stuck on the turnouts. Has anyone opened this to see if the LGB 55429 capacitor back can be hooked up to the main board ? is there room inside for it ? I searched online and did not find anything on this....it's a relatively delicate locomotive and don't want to open it up and be disappointed. I usually add a capacitor bank to the cheaper loc's and that does the trick, was expecting this one to have one for the price $$$.

TIA

This may be useful....

I install super caps in engines and LGB sound units. Be sure to use add a current limiter in the charging wire as super caps can draw a lot of power (read current) when first turned on.
I make my own for Zimo as they have a built in circuit to limit current when adding super caps and is limited to about 16 volts for storage. So all you need is to place super caps in series to go slightly above 16 volts for Zimo decoders.

I had a new one of these that did not run too well so I checked that all the wheels were picking up power and a couple of sliders on the back of the wheels were not connecting to the back if the wheels. Worth checking continuity each side with a meter to see if that is an issue with yours. Once mine was sorted it ran superbly.

I can endorse this as I had an early one which was only picking up current on one wheel on the firemans side Off with the bottom and carefully rearranged the pick ups and viola everything was fine
