Cheers Bud .

Armada Cottages nearly there now. A few bits of touching up (especially that brickwork), glazing and then it's the roof ........ I hate doing roofs, especially with dormer windows .

The water proof grout/adhesive worked a treat BTW .

Great work Mel.

I just got the 'Welshpool Book' today - so I will be following events on the W&G even closer now!

Yes mate, also because lighting is a possibility in the future - I have a plan ;). It'll help to seal it all as well. I'm not entirely sure the polystyrene needs to be sealed, just a belt and braces job.

Looking very nice Mel

This is looking great Mel and its given me lots of tips for the future. How sturdy are the styrofoam walls now that the tile cement / grout has hardend.

Missed this the last couple of days, so just caught up. Like the grouterisin', think it's best not too smooth, like you got. Lolly sticks or coffee stirrers about spot on I'd say. Roofs next?

"Trousers" has spotted the Port Merryone in the background. Trust 'er!

I might show just the corner of the picture, she could get ideas, apart from her P/Merryone, she's got a collection of Moorcroft, and a load of others besides. OR of course she might highjack the thread!

Oh shot Neil. You'll really enjoy the book.

I read the pictures last night - brilliant, loads of previously unpublished ones. The VoR book is good too, in the same series, but the Ffesterbahn one was a touch tedious - think that is OPC though, not Wild Duck.

I put the cottages to one side for today and decided to make a start on the stone house. Now if you look at pictures of the real thing (or ask Neil to have a look in his new book  ) you will see that the stonework was rough as ought. I wouldn't imagine the stone mason who did it got many cathedral commisions????? Anyhoo, a smooth, billiard table finish wasn't neccassary, although I'll have to take a bit more care with the brick parts.

This is the sequence that I followed;
1 Spread the grout on pretty thickly
2 Level it off as best as possible with a coffee stirrer
Make a brew and leave it about 1/2 an hour
3 Really bad lumps and hollows can be levelled using a damp finger (snarf, snarf)
Brew. Leave it about 1 1/2 hours (I sorted out the house insurance, but this is not compulsory)
4 With the grout pretty crusty, start scribing the stonework starting with the lintels and key stones etc. around the windows, doorway and edges. Then fill in the rest of the stonework. I used an old knife blade including sometimes the blunt end that fits in the handle.
This took me over an hour, so a brew was included half way through
5 Any stonework that comes out a bit bulgy can be (very) gently flattened down using a damp finger again.

Obviously this is going to take a while as you can really only do one side at a time. Patience is a virtue .

Ah nuw it, ah nuw it! Showed 'er the pic, and 'er starts takin' of addin' this and that post to the thread.

'Er real trouble is, she's got the factorary shops jus' up the road.:thumbdown::thumbdown:
