Thomas & Friends - The Great Race

Many thanks for the comment and glad you liked our latest little Thomas video. It was great fun to make as the sun was out all day so made the filming much easier. The on-board shots were done by the engines pushing the camera along on a flat bed truck. It worked much better than expected so we shall have to use that again sometime.

Thanks!!! It was certainly great fun to make. The sun was out all day so great for filming. The engines all behaved themselves and none of the 'cast' fell over.. including the crew!

I have to confess that I am not a great fan of Thomas & Co but the video was a sheer delight.

Thanks David! We have great fun making these little videos. It's just like "Last of the Summer Wine", if you know what I mean. We also run our 'live' steamers as well but they never seem to get the same kind of comments. Everyone seems to love Thomas so that can't be bad! Great fun!

Great fun Vid, much hard work must go into the production of these. Good to see that Thomas won, he can fly too. At one stage on the vid he managed to get between Percy and James in spite of starting out in front. Very clever Thomas.

Hi Jon, Thanks for your great post... and you spotted that Thomas has incredible powers of flight! Anything can happen on Pine Tree Junction and usually does. You can never really believe what you see in our videos as there is always lots of trick editing and "do that again" when the locos fall off the track or something falls over. As you can imagine, we have great fun making these videos and things usually work out in the edit. Although sometimes, we don't spot something until the video has been posted. Anyway, it's all good fun playing with our toy trains in the garden. Hope you visit us again soon!

Looking forward to the next great vid. Glad you took my observation in the spirit that it was meant. And yes I can imagine that you have endless fun with your creations of the Thomas Magic. Certainly beats running round in circles. Though I expect a fair bit of that is used to create the clips that you need. Please keep them comming.

Hi Jon, We'll do our best! You may also have noticed that some of the shots are of the locos going backwards which are then reversed in the edit. The last shots of the three trains coming up to the finish line were filmed backwards. The locos were positioned at the finish line then filmed going backwards. This was then revered in the edit. Controlling three battery powered locos to finish just in the spot you want is difficult so reversing the process is much easier. There you go. Tricks of filming on Pine Tree Junction!
