Top Slots & Trains closing

Agreed and well put Paul, if you have a local shop then those bits are best bought from them. Sadly no outlet here, nearest accessible to me by train is Stevenage which makes a nice trip out as there is a Micro/Craft Pub (The broken seal tap room) just round the corner.
No model shop in Cambridge.

My nearest ones are Stevenage (good for Kato), BSE (some G scale stocked), Ely and Peterborough. Redfin in Baldock good for RC and adhesives. Further afield is Ipswich (Scograil)....

Have you asked..he has ..a starter set in the window,,he has a few items in stock , waggons ,bit of second hand track as well , but he can order stuff in for you ,
He has a fantastic collection of diecast cars ect ,usefull to us, plus plastic, glue, tools ect..not having a go,/dig, just trying to explain..
To be honest, I just went by his website and there didn't look to be much on offer. For me, its also about after sales care, or fitting decoders etc, that sort of thing.

I think there were a couple in Cambridge around the turn of the century I believe, we visited one when I was building the Ruschbahn but that disappeared before I moved to the nitz.

Yes there was a few when we moved to Royston. I'm not so keen on RedfinTBH, they never seem to have what I want! Last time I looked for the one in Peterborough, I couldn't find it at all! Admittedly I didn't have much time, and it wasn't where I thought it was, so hopefully it hasn't gone. The one in BSE is good, if you're lucky you can park opposite.

Bury St Edmunds, in Slofolk.

Bury St Edmunds, right in the town centre. A good little shop as Gizzy says. A smashing town to visit, and one of the smallest pubs I've seen

Thanks Gizzy Gizzy , never found the shop when I visited but did find the smallest pub. Second visit went to one of the Brew Pubs and Spoons (tick). In my stupidity thought that BSE was name of shop, I guess we all know who GRS is! Oh and yes the bike shop that does Model Railways upstairs in Ely is it is still trading, but no G as I seam to remember.

If I am not mistaken there was a model shop around there when I lived in the area in the late 1970s (1976 - 79), and where I bought a lot of my first railway stuff.

Probably the same one James.
