Hi All

Not sure if this is the right place for this and if not could someone move it please.

Does anyone know the maximum current drawn by the cleaning motor on the LGB TCL?

Paul

No, but mine runs both motors (and lights) at about half an amp.

If yours is running OK but pulling a high current then the axle bearings might need cleaning (Urgently).
The plastic edge from the flange wheel is known to wear down as the cleaning wheels wear down. The spru from this can collect around the cleaning wheel axle and seize it. The repair costs a few bob - so I suggest you have a look now.

Too late:(

I,m sorting out a new drive interface from a massoth board and wanted to make sure it's rated high enough.

We need Mike here - he has done two or three of these.

Mike Help!

I,m going to drive the flashing lights and cleaner via a pcaxe chip so that I can use the flashers without the cleaner, i.e. when on other track mantenance duties.:)

i would STRONGLY recommened that you replaces the cleanning motor, and check/replaces the bearing/drives/gear wheel asembly..you are replacesing the blown bord.. BUT what caused it to blow, its has been in my experiansce(5 other pepoles trackcleaners) that the cleaning wheel flange, (which is madeoff a nyloin matireal) de laminates, ..as it delaminates, it wraps around the axle.. as it wraps around the axle, it over heats due to friction.. the nyloin melts, is drawn into the bearings. when the axles stops cleaning/spinging. the nlyion sets.. causeing the nbearings to sease up/get stiff.this inturn, leads to the cleaning motor drawing more, and more current to opersate.. this leads tothe main bords to faill ...just replaceing the bord, will not fix the problem, just tempory fix a syprton..

i would advise all ownrs off these lococs toREGULLARY check behind the cleaning wheels, and remove the nyloin build up stright away...
