Trainline bridge

Width, cant help other than a LGB train will pass through. Appearance is a matter of what you want. They are cut from flat steel sheet and have no relief to them. The cut out appears to be clean and the bridges can be very effective - but detailed, they are not.
 
Thanks. I'm will be building a 9 meter viaduct some double track. Debating weather to use GRS stone products, these, or another manufacturer ( think there are some others) or, as I've done before the plastic LGB ones which look impressive with a long line of them but maybe not to realistic.

That's one heck of a viaduct - have you thought of casting your own in concrete?

I have but not sure if it would look to flat. Other thing is concrete is rather hard to get rid off should we move. I've got a 100 yard long gauge 3 loop to construct with station area with the 45mm doing a loop via the garage. I debated giving up narrow gauge but I've built so much stock u couldn't bare to get rid of it all. The viaduct I've built is in two sections 3 meters vas two meters I'll have to post some pics if anyone wants to see my work, not that it's that good!
 
You could always use Woderick's method using uPVC trim if you want to keep costs down.

The width is 1600mm. I have a K27 which is 1600mm wide and bought 2 of these bridges before the loco.
An angle grinder down the middle made them much wider, very quickly and I planned to fit new cross members to restore the strength, but tried the sides fitted on my supports with track just laid through, to test.
Surprisingly, the bridges took the load of the loco and train without blinking, so I never fixed them permanently.
I have since moved them to a less visually important place because impressive they're not.
What you are building sounds very impressive, and these bridges could just spoilt it for " a ha'porth of tar"
That's just opinion though, the strength of the bridge is a fact. John.

You get product built exactly to your requirements, but they are dearer. You get what you pay for of course, but one as a centrepiece of your creation would certainly look impressive. ( No connection, just a very satisfied customer).

1600mm - thats over 5 foot. I think you might have meant 160mm - about 6 and a half inch.
 
No probs mate - my brains like that most of the time. Its an age thing!
 
Thanks for all the advise guys.

I've decided on a few changes and I'm doing it in stages.

I've got 6 meters worth of GRS stone sides, the 4 meter long section can really only be seen one side so pointless in cladding the back, moulding could be interesting!

I may build the double track section on timber, planting each side.

Next question is, I've looked over this but still unsure:

How do I fix the cast side to the arches I will have to cast?

Engine oil is ok to use to keep concrete from the mould?

Best concrete to use?

Finally, can I up load pics from the I pad on here, can't seem to.
