I was wondering if I would be risking any damage to an USA Trains F7 locomotive by running through a R1 LGB turnout? USA Trains says the F7 needs a minimum of 5', but I currently don't have anything larger for turnouts. Curves on the mainline are 8'.

Well, it would certainly derail on an LGB R1 (600mm radius/1200mm diameter) which is much tighter than the USA trains minimum radius recommendation (1524mm radius/3048mm diameter).

There are wide radius turnouts available that would suit your USA trains loco.

You would certainly be better off sticking to LGB products if you are using R1. However plenty of options for larger rad points but at a cost.
