The ESC pcb design can be critical too.
I can remember an early smd ESC I had to scrap completely because the pwm signal trace from the ESC pin ran directly back underneath the centre of the processor itself.
That radiated pwm caused a processor instability problem that took some finding. No amount of suppression worked.
Once the pwm signal trace was re-routed away from the IC, no more problem.
