Wellingborough and Finedon Iron stone railway Peckett

Hi Rik the cylinders are a 19mm copper tube with two French 20 centimes coins soldered to the ends the slide bars are soldered into cut outs in the front coin which is also centre drilled, the cross head is filed from sheet brass with the piston rod and K&S U-channel soldered to the top and bottom to keep it in place on the slide bar, the connecting rod was drilled and cut from brass strip and filed and ground to shape. The assembly is not finished yet as I still have to make the guide bar supports, I am also contemplating re-building the chassis with new wheels from Walsall model engineering supplies to improve the piston stroke, still lots to do!

Here's an update on the Pecket, over the winter I have fitted new wheels from Walsall engineering and a new modern Canon EN22 motor with Helical motor gearbox from MSC, this combination now gives greater battery life and is very quiet. The loco, has had more detailing with sand boxes, lubricator, pipework, back head cab fittings and the addition of makers plates from Narrow Planet and Beccs lettering DSC00115.1 (Medium).jpg DSC00120 (Medium).JPG DSC00118 (Medium).JPG MSC gearbox with Cannon motor (Medium).jpg
