WHAT GRADE OF CABLE FOR GARDEN RAILWAY

The cable should be able to take the full wattage that can be used from the the power supply.
So if using a Massoth 1200Z at 22v and a maximum of 12amps W= V x A = 22 x 12 = 264 watts.
Electrical lighting cable is fine (1mm2 cross section).
Voltage loss from 1mm2 cable is not heavy at up to 20metres

Wow, this really "sparked" a lot of answers - very grateful to you all.
Now for the difficult bit - persuading SWMBO that all this is worthwhile........
 
If anyone doubts the earlier comments regarding animals, inquisitiveness and sharp teeth, our local fox has bitten clean through the mains cable leading to my pond pump...
