Clarry,
are you sure that they are 'R1's as the guard/check rail looks too short and the powered frog looks unlike any LGB switch. Is this an aftermarket mod?

I use something similar on my Aristo wide-radius guardrails. I simply bend a strip of brass with a 180 degree bend at each end and slip over the guardrail moulding. The bends hold the brass strip firmly to the guardrail and are easily removable should the need require.

Thanks Clarry. I've seen something similar before, but these are great pics.
I need to do this to my street track, because I'm finding Roundhouse locos unhappy on R1's.

Tim sorry, you are quite right, the photo is of an R2 point mod. I took that photo on the bench before it went out into the garden. I have just been out in the garden to have a look. I must have picked the wrong photo out of the "Trains" album, but, I have done the similar mods to 4 other R1 points, and as you say the check rail is much longer. I originally tried to Araldite plastic strip inside the check rail , but it did not stick on good enough. The brass strip works ok though.
Cheers
Clarry
