What System control on your layout ?

Hopefully this thread will continue. There are some very interesting systems shown here that I’m satisfied are beyond my technical and financial abilities. Reading through the build threads this past year, many lacked photographic documentation of the controls. For example I believe there are some powered by car battery and I wonder what they used to control the engine speed. What alternatives folks use to control the blocks on an analog set up. Air operation of switch settings with a coke bottle has off the grid potential. Anyway I’m hoping more contributions will be made here.

I’m usually satisfied with a set controller and a small engine; they’re easy to carry to carry and satisfy my lazy bone. Other times more power is required. 4159E420-0ACA-46E9-9F10-D356460AAF24.jpeg

Crappie satellite and old phone; didn’t mean to post twice and will have to post in segments. I’ve got two different size buckets for protection against sun, due, or pop up shower, and depending on what controller is out. 66ACAA1E-8158-46CB-BD72-16C28A18C416.jpeg66ACAA1E-8158-46CB-BD72-16C28A18C416.jpeg

There is currently only one killable block in the fiddle yard. I had two of these but lost the spring on one when it flew away trying to tweek it outside. 92B91F32-C8D8-40A0-86A5-6546004156BB.jpeg

These boxes were salvaged from a neon sign, thinking they could be modified for block control. But for the price of weatherproof 3/4” diameter switches, the real thing could be bought as LGB or Piko. 7779DB46-E95A-4B55-A6FF-B134B065E794.jpegYes, basically barefoot and missing several teeth from the hills and hollows of Tennessee.
