Which Station layout ?

Need a model of that operator.

One of the German mags offered a metal-cast and handpainted one a while back.... think it was GB Profi, maybe somebody can confirm?
He might still be available if you email the publisher.....

On Thread (ish) :) decided going to go for the island platform layout as it was originally laid out but move the points as suggested. Next question is space between trains and platform edge, hadn't worried about it until now as the platforms are not installed but hopefully soon will be, as soon as I have made the spaces to hold them parallel to the tracks.

Widest LGB Coach / Engine I have is 120mm, and I was going to leave a gap of 15mm, bigger looks very odd , closer looks even better... but too close and things could hit the platform edge. Moving the points does mean that Engines / wagons will have straightened up before they reach the platform

Are there many wagons etc. wider than 120mm ? even 16mm wagons seen narrower than LGB.s, would be nice to cut it down to 10mm, that's still a 9" gap to scale :D I will never run the big American trains with cow catchers so they are not a worry. What do we recon 15mm about right or could I go nearer ??

Parallel running is not the problem, but if you have a run-round loop where the points are within the bounds of your platforms, then the overhang and swing is the problem..

I have had a quick look, as there was a discussion on the Forum about stock sizes and loading gauge. - There might be something in the big LGB book??
I am unable to find the thread ATM..

I *think* it was a big caboose, and the Kamel that are the problems? - Someone will shoot me down in a minute on this! ;)

Hi Points are outside of the platforms and I will have between 300 and 600mm straight from any curve to the start of a platform, so it is parallel running, just been playing on the mat with track and platforms and an LGB starter set wagons have about +/- 4mm play on them side to side, looks good at 10mm gap if it wasn't an island platform then it wouldn't be a problem, I could move them closer or further away from the tracks when they are outside if the gap was too tight, not so easy with a track either side of one platform :)

I think it was Grootspur not sure though not sure if that is spelt correctly

Grootspoor probably stocked them (and may well have some left), but I'm sure it was one of the magazines which actually commissioned/produced them..... I'll have to check back to my old copies of GBP and GartenBahn when I get the chance.

Decided to go for 140mm loading gauge so that's 10mm clear each side of my parallel platforms, that should allow enough for the side movement in LGB.s wagons and a bit of learn if the track subsides o_O Searched the web only found 16mm loading gauge is 135mm, I can always fit a pair of rotating saw blades at the start of my station to make sure everything fits ROFL
