Wiring up an LGB semaphore signal

That's very kind of everyone, and "Yes please" to all and I guess ntpntpntp is the man who needs everything. And if each of you will let me know what I owe for parts, I'll start sending out money.

Yes I'm happy to build it, unless it makes more sense for stockers to post the rectifier to Arthur Aardvark and minimise the journeys the bits have to make? Arthur, are you up for building it as you have the box? No problem if you'd rather I do it.

So.... playmofire let's be clear on the requirements:
1) This has got to operate just the one signal? Do you foresee getting any more signals you'd want to operate (ie. would you ever want more switches and output wires adding to the box?)
2) You'd like a small box with the dpdt switch on the top, the rectifier etc. inside
3) The box will need a pair of wires in and another pair out. Do these need to be long or short? Will the box be close to the Playmobil supply? I'm thinking maybe just a few inches of wire each side (or out of the "back", whichever way suits you best), and you can connect with "chocolate block" terminals? Alternatively I guess could fit some sort of simple plug/socket arrangement?
4) Is it for indoor or outdoors (ie. does it need to be weather-proof at all?)

Let us know exactly what you need made up?

I wouldn't worry about the money side of things just yet.

If you PM me your address I'll donate an LGB switch box to you, it will take all the guess work out and you will be able to add on more "stuff" as you grow................

I think this is brilliant!
The camaraderie and willingness to help one another makes me feel the Human Race ain't all bad after all!! Good on us! ;D ;D ;D

Not sure where everyone is on this, but I am (almost literally) in the middle, and can (mostly) avoid grabbing the wrong end of the soldering iron if I can help at all??

Minimans kind offer seems the best deal but if anyone wants the rectifier just PM me your address.

Either minimans kind offer, or I have the necessary parts and can make it to Nick's idea of how to do it.

Well, everyone has been very generous (and many thanks to everyone who offered help in any way), but I think minimans offer is the one to accept. I've no major plans for expansion (I haven't even got a final layout down yet), but then until 10 days or so ago I'd no plans to buy an LGB signal it does seem sensible to build in the potential for expansion!

Hi, I use several LGB signals and they are automatically operated by the train. All my engines have magnets fitted and they operate reed switches mounted in the track and wired to the signals using diodes from an AC supply. They set the signal down and the up after the train has passed. This system is so simple and effective. (this system also operates my point on a reversing loop too) They work from a 24v AC plug power supply. They have been working for years. You don'r need these expensive switching arrangements. Look at my Youtube clip. to see them working.
