Woodlock Logging

The moss has certainly done well this year, something to do with all that rain.

A few extra inches, dodging the drainpipe. This is a small extension, but will allow me to fit my full length trains on this branch, to change locomotives, by way of the new one coming on to the back, leaving the original locomotive against the buffers.

Imagine if we could keep going, there's just enough room in the front garden for a R1 return loop.... But, the land beyond the buffers is not mine. Shared access down to our individual driveways.

Locomotive test to the end of the line. And then it rained. Again. I hate this hobby sometimes, the garden needs tending, the railway needs keeping tidy, but it's just too bl#@&y wet.

To paraphrase a well known says “ You don’t need to be mad to have a Garden Railway but it helps!” It also helps to have the odd curse and alcoholic drink now and again.
More power to your elbow

Finally garden tidy. A bit of ballasting done, and a new platform surface with some level crossings. Going to do my other platforms the same, to standardise them.

Platform standardisation continues, before night shift...PXL_20240413_160724105.jpgPXL_20240413_161054682.jpgPXL_20240413_161059504.jpg

Roof felt projects completed. All stations now have the same platform surface, and a few new Level Crossings around the line. Need some station furniture now to complete the look. Not helped by the loss of Top Slots.

Using the new level crossings, you can now start marking out long walking routes for your little people.

But you don't want them to walk. You want them buying tickets to take the train.
Well, they don't actually need to take the train, so long as they buy tickets.
How else is the managing director going to get his quarterly bonus?

Well, how about the railway promoting circuitous walking routes that start and end at a station? You can travel there by train, walk the route, and travel back. That way you do both: have a healthy walk and spend money on a train ticket.

I know it works, as my national railway actually does this.

Amtrak out and about, with a bit of light cleaning on the station canopy.PXL_20240416_100018321.jpgPXL_20240416_100034825.jpgPXL_20240416_100333808.jpgPXL_20240416_100639973.jpgPXL_20240416_100644531.jpgPXL_20240416_100655902.jpgPXL_20240416_101009909.jpgPXL_20240416_101026909.jpgPXL_20240416_101248971.jpgPXL_20240416_101822075.jpgPXL_20240416_101903148.jpgPXL_20240416_110535916.jpgPXL_20240416_110550358.MP.jpgPXL_20240416_120505684.jpgPXL_20240416_120515242.jpgPXL_20240416_120527671.jpgPXL_20240416_122442861.jpg

Shades of the Metropolitan Railway walking maps. When it first opened it advertised trips to the countryside, places like Harrow, Pinner etc. Unfortunately these days it's no longer countryside

Another visiting locomotive from the parents Katzberg Bahn.

Also added some rocks to a featureless corner that, after 10 years appears to have become cat poo corner. For no apparent reason. (looking at you Nigel). And I'm sure I taught him to do it in the neighbours garden....

Anyway, it adds some interest.

I'm looking at the green loco that's labelled "UI". Is that its name? In Dutch, "ui" is the word for onion.

Ha, not sure to be honest.
