1/24 bullbozer

made I laugh, that did :D

So Graham, when are you going to tell us the URL of this 'ere website of your mate??
Pretty sure he would like to sell some models..
;) :D ;D ;D

It is interesting to note the dichotomy around accessories , especially value for money .
Why do we buy locos for anything up to £2000 or more and have it haul loads which do not reflect the accuracy and detail of the loco ?
The reason I mention this is a reasonably detailed plastic model is presented as being worth getting , then a perfectly good scale model is shown and immediately leads to horror at its price . The yellow Front Loader and the Red Tracked Forestry skidder are the two items in question .
The detail and sheer weightiness of the Forestry Tractor towing its Log Skidder makes it look far more to scale .
The same applies to figures . Some of us man our trains with ugly caricatures when perfectly good scale people are available .
Why ?
Is this some subconscious effort to show that we are only playing with toys (thus excusing the horrendous cost of the railway stuff) and so convincing any nosey git who asks how much it all costs , that it's not all more costly than a 1950's mortgage ?
Before I get my throat assaulted by large feet , there is a place for both , and as it happens I buy both .
I have to admit though that I dismantle and paint the plastic ones , adding a bit more detail too . The simple application of a coat of paint can work wonders with the appearance of plastic models .
But I digress .
Why do we pay a lot for locos and rolling stock and dismiss the equally fine scale accessories by First Gear , and similar manufacturers ? .
Answers on a five pound note will be appreciated .

Mikanmart, I think the problem is that of lack of confidence by many to attack a perfectly (to them) item that they have saved up hard to buy. The main fear being that it will somehow devalue the items resale value. Personally I do not worry about this, I want something to look like I want it and am prepared to hack, bash and weather to achieve that.

I do applause your willingness to repaint things and perhaps for many confidence could be gained by doing this to the Cheep Chinese Figures that are available from Ebay. This would help to build confidence.

Personally I am looking at these Diggers etc to see how they may be backdated to my 1981 East German look. Sadly at the moment I have not got any pictures to refer to. All my Reference Material being Rail related. Still I may do a bit of research once I can see the full range of these superb inexpensive Civil Engineering Vehicles.

Not a bulldozer as such, but this is an example of the type of tracked vehicle in use in the Eastern Bloc at that time.

I`m guessing it is of Russian manufacture, but was photographed at a Polish Sugar Beet factory in 2001 whilst on a railtour of their narrow gauge rail system.

Incidentally....I evemtually bought a total 6 of the big red logging tractors with the Kerry archbar. Only one at full price (which was nowhere near the UK price I quoted in an earlier post above)..
The rest were "remaindered" a month later, so I bought them.
The price from the USA cost less than half the UK price including other payments (freight/vat

IF I ever sell them, the price will reflect the cost of the postage from the US which was not cheap as each model weighs in at about 2 kilos!

Ooh any piccies.

No thanks, they're not really my thing. Just thought a piccy of half a dozen mint boxed ones would be a hell of a sight.

They are pretty good figures. I don't know the actual scale but they look pretty realistic to me.

I think the same as Mike Morgan.
It is apparent that not all modellers can model to the standard of MIke Duffy (and most of his stuff is scratch built). he also finishes ready made stuff in a more pro manner. Those plastic jobs I feel sure, in the right hands could be made to look really good when "got at".

wow, high praise, thanks ross! :o

can I please remind you all this was to do with a light load for a flat bed or open wagon at a very reasonable price ,so could be kit bashed to suit anyone's needs and pocket .
Steve Hardin will be back from his holidays soon and I am hoping to get some more photos of his products ,but I am pleased it generated so much interest ,I am a kit basher and also a scratch builder ,in a previous life I was a model maker I guess I still am . I am just waiting for Steve to contact me .

Looks very much like those that used to tow the Russian military howitzers........
Worryingly this implies the civilians had Howitzers too :o

the digger is a lot better without the big handle on it and a small amount of plastic card 20thou will cover the hole nicely
