That tender is looking very nice Ian do like the rivet detail :thumbup:

Cheers, Richie
I had to take a gues at what the top really looks like, as most photos are taken from track level.
However, it is only a likeness - I may have stuck some rivets on, but I didn't stop to count them :rolf:

Ian
If you google SPNG #9 or #8 you will find plenty of links that show the whaleback tender from all positions and in great detail.
Regards
David

A few more handrails to fit - there's no end to 'em, the lamp, and perhaps some electrical pick up on the bogie wheels.

Reday for the Summer :thumbup::thumbup:

Then I need som Fn3 coaches - but it's a bit 'Old mother Hubbard' I'm afraid. :brokeheart:

Hi Ian
I do remember a article a few years back in Garden Railways the building of a Southern Pacific whale back tender ,Was abit like the new loco from Accucraft .

Yes, Ritchie.

At one point I dreamed about buying one of these - then I woke up :rolf:

So I set about building something 'in the style of'.............

I think the tricky thing would be to get a smoke unit for it - apparently SP always used the lowest grade of oil, and when fired correctly, these locos belched black smoke :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

Cheers Steve

I think it's going to look OK - the proportions have turned out reasonably well, and a lot of it was fairly crude guesswork :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

It's getting there.

Just some tarting up to do of the cab windows, decals (on order) and then running tests :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

There will be a slight delay in proceedings.

A glitch with the decals and I'm seriously cheesed off with the guy that made 'em.

They are not very white - more a feeble feint grey, and I've parted with some good wonga.

I wus robbed. :wits::wits::wits::wits::wits::wits:

If they were printed on an ALPS type printer I believe they usually need two passes, one with 'off white' and one with 'white' if being used over a dark colour. Hope you get it sorted :)

Yerst, not sure.

But there are developments, peace may have broken out in the decal camp, and the project may get back on track :laugh::laugh: 'scuse the pun.

Next query
I may need to run a couple of wires through to the tender for extra pick ups, but I'm struggling to find a suitable connector.

What are the standard LGB/Bachmann connectors called, and who sells 'em?

Or is there anything better? I looked at a jack socket - nice and neat, but the jack plug itself is monstrous :holdon::holdon:
