Yay Deltang kit has arrived. ;D

Battery pack not here yet though. :(
Gareth,
What are you putting it in?
What size batteries have you gone for?
What sort of run-time are you expecting?

Please??

Hope you'll forgive me answering with what mine is achieving, Phil. Mine has a 12 volt Li-ion battery installed. So far it's managed 3 hours between showers up and down dale running on its own. No sign of it becoming exhausted yet.

Hi Phil,

Piko Railbus (all that Tigger's fault)
Strikalite 12 volt 2300mAh NiMh pack (it should fit nicely behind the toilet compartment without looking too obvious)
Run time? I'll let you know, but if my Baguley is anything to go by should be well over 2 hours

Job jobbed ;)

Went for a simple approach.

Wired up to the analogue board as Peter did, batteries in the passenger compartment connected to the receiver/esc by way of a JST connector. Minimal soldering (only the two battery connections). From the side view the battery pack doesn`t look too intrusive and will be disguised at a later date in any event.

Excellent Gareth..could even be a 'stretched' AC railbus or even a WM jobbie.
Nice job

Hello Chaps,
I've been looking at this article with interest. Instead of using the Lipo battery arrangement in the passenger area I have used 2 x 4 cell AA battery holders on a lenght of veroboard supported by the roof central cross member and then the roof on top. I have installer rechargeable cells in the holders. I have incorporated a covered fuse holder withe fuse and a switch to enable poer isolation. I have also used a Maplin 3 wire extension cable to couple to the RX65b on the chasis.

A silver one would make a good speeder - like the Peruvian narrow gauge.

How wide is it, Gareth please?

Chaps,
Here is my railbus with the battery pack mounted in the roof of the railbusRailbus with the roof on.JPGRailbus with rear of circuit board.JPGRailbus showing battery packs.JPG

I used a piece of vero board to mount the pcb battery packs on and straddled the central support beam in the roof. The board also includes a switch and fuse

Thanks Jon,
I'm a member of the Cheddar Steam Club which has a track 500ft long (we also run electric radio control as well as steam on it) . This config along with the Deltang RX65 did 4 laps and was still going. So for a standard garden railway this config should last quite a while. The batteries are AA 2000mA/H. The radio range on the Deltang RX65 was also impressive.

Regards

Dick
