Accucraft K-27

Max, you mean like this?........

I am in the process of trying to get a 'simulation' of the photo using 4-6-0s (not prototypical I know) and using the help of my powered cattle cars BUT it would be lovely to do it with K27s, K28, K36 etc.
I have an electric accucraft and bachmann K27 but they run at different speeds (the Bachmann 4-6-0 Annies run more or less exactly the same speed as my powered stock cars).
Why do I need powered stock cars, and why would even a live steam K27 have problems on my line...there is a very heavy gradient on my layout ...it climbs about 3 ft in about 25 ft ! My Accucraft K27 will go up on its own (and obviously come down at a pace) but it slips its wheels when pulling more than two or thee cars, and that is with all the, not inconsiderable, weight of the loco itself bearing down on them.

Yes, that's the one.
I thought my 6" in 8 ft was trickey, that is some gradient.
I have run a triple loco train, all track powered. The trick I found was to test the 3 locos together and work out which one ran fastest. That one goes at the head of the train, the next fastest in the middle and slowest at the back. That way you avoid the tenders of the two leading loco's and trailing wagons having their trucks pushed of the tracks in the curves. Not broken any coupling yet under tension. Now trying that with live steam might require some co-ordination but I'd love to see it, especially with Richie's K-27 leading.
Look forward to seeing one of your excellent retro-recreations of the above.
Max.

Cheers Steve
Does run nice and slow just opened the throttle a little and off she went no idea what the top speed is like .

Hi Mike & Max
Double header would look nice but not possible on my line due to the R3 curves have tried it with Bachmann connies found to much swing on the front coupling . Will be abit hard controlling the C-16 with the K as it's R/C .
Be nice to see somes photo's of your K-28 Max

Here it is on its maiden voyage on Trevor Goodman's (Main131) track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhtXc4Rv0qY It also appears in the North Bucks railway clips on this year's 16mmNGM DVD compilation.
I havn't filmed it yet on my line, too busy worrying about breaking it !

Very nice she looks Max pulling a good bit of weight a have a couple of those hopper cars my Bachmann K-27 has a job to pull them on my grades .
