This is where it gets hairy - for me at least. Wires cut and bits removed.

Next step is to solder the wires together. That will have to wait until tomorrow this evening it is back to refitting son No 1's bathroom.

OOOOH give me the bathroom anytime Keith!!

Now you tell me!
The bathroom didn't go too well either. It is an awkward semi-pedestal and I broke the first one cutting my hand badly in the process. After drilling through the immensely hard porcelain tiles and wrecking 4 drill bits in the process I found nothing behind them but a massive void. The only way I could hang the basin was to stuff plastic into the space and use a fixing resin to set the retaining bolts. There is still the semi-pedestal to fit.
The K27 SHOULD be relatively simple.......

8| Better not say what it thinks of you! ;)

A bit late entering into this subject but my experience has been good so far. When I bought the loco, from Andrew at Garden Railway Centres,he supplied the replacement cranks, easy job to fix.Since then it has performed flawlessly, good control at low speeds and takes LGB rad 3 switches with no problem.
However, these locos are very wide and the overhang, especially on rad 3 curves is truly huge and something to be considered when constructing your layout.
Regards
David

It has only taken me a month to get around to it but at last the new smokebox front is fitted.
There was one heartstopping moment when I turned on the power for the first check - - -NOTHING - - -then I realised these locos have to have the tender connected! Phew!
Next was an annoyance, one of the running(?) lights wasn't working. Initially I thought that it was my soldering - it usually is, but swapping it for a known working one from the now redundant front solved that issue.
It is the first time I have used shrink wrap to cover joints. It works beautifully so long as you remember to fit it BEFORE you solder the joint!!!!!
I still need either to spray the door silver to match the smokebox wrapper or spray the latter black - preferred option.
After that it is on with the plough, I just hope that is simpler although I suspect that I will have to do some cutting of the plough to fit a working coupling.
If I thought that my soldering was a difficult I called at Philbahns earlier in the evening and the job he is doing on his Mallet would give me nightmares.
Way, way beyond my capabilities.
