Bachmann K27 acceptance trials

Dunno about a snowplough on the front, maybe a battering ram ? ;)

Had the same problem on my truss bridge Keith would be running fine one minute then comes to a holt ,cylinders caught one of the truss rods ( you have to watch the cylinder caps as they can drop out when knocked ) found one in my tunnal when cleaning the track .

It won't go anywhere near my truss bridge (it isn't in-situ yet so not an immediate problem) Fortunately, it is an easy job to unbolt the existing base angle irons and replace with wider ones.

Ooh you are awful.

It never rains but it pours!
The new plough and replacement split smokebox door arrived today from Bachmann USA ........except that it was not a split door but the standard one! B****r! :@
Why can't these companies get basic things right?
It's not rocket science. :@ :crying:
What next? Am I to now be told "Oh we don't have any of those left"?
Which means I will have a useless plough too as the switches in the smokebox cannot be accessed with the plough fitted because the door can't be opened. :@

Can't you just cut the door in half with a razer saw?
I don't think it is possible because it has "opposing hinges" or pins and would simply fall apart!.
In desperation I might try it but I await Bachmann's reply to my email first.
At least if I ruin it I have the one that is already fitted.

Getting there very, very gradually.
I have received an email from Bachmann USA to say that they will send the correct door.

I ought to have updated earlier this to say that the corrct smokebox door arrived from Bachmann. It lacks a number on the front but the one on the 'wrong' door can be removed and reused fairly easily.
The K27 runs through the new Piko R5 point perfectly. I have now bought two more. I will reuse the 'offending' LGB ones on the yet to be built rack.

I have started on the job of replacing the smokebox door in preparation for fitting the plough, at this rate I might have it ready for the next snow!
Off with the front at which point I noticed that the new door is black but 463 has a gunmetal smokebox.
Options are to respray the door grey or the smokebox black.
The jury is out; there are some intricate areas on the door and I might not be able to get the correct colour of paint so it might be easier to do the whole box.

There is plenty of weight visible in the boiler.

This is where it gets hairy - for me at least. Wires cut and bits removed.

Next step is to solder the wires together. That will have to wait until tomorrow this evening it is back to refitting son No 1's bathroom.
