Do they not intend continuing to produce the model?

My recollection is that it was a limited run - hang on to it mate, it'll be 'rare' soon

I'd stick with it, for only 450 sovs it was a good bargain, even with a bit of aggro :thumbup:

they do run nicely when sorted

Don't worry it's not going anywhere.
Tomorrow there is a real danger it will get some proper testing although I may have to 'adjust' one of the curves, it is too close to R2.

A result! Email to Bachmann USA before the weekend.
Response today telling me that I would need a new boiler front with light.
Cost only $15 + shipping.

All I need to know now is how difficult will it be to remove and replace it?

Has anyone done this job?:nail:

Had my green-boilered K27 shipped from the States last year - friend Neil R fitted the Phoenix sound which I ordered at the same time. The loco arrived in perfect condition and has run perfectly ever since. I ordered it over the phone and was guaranteed that it was not one with loose weights. The loco, sound system, shipping, etc.,etc., came to less than buying one over here without a sound system! I have used Bachmann in Leics. a few times - always find it's best to phone and ask to speak to the guy who does the repairs. They're within driving distance for me, so I deliver and pick- up myself - always found them to be very helpful.

Unfortunately, Bachmann Europe could not help with the smokebox door, they have none in stock.
If I had lived closer I would have taken the original loco in myself - a lot less hassle.

Mornin', all - here's Royale's beautiful green boilered K-27 behind my AccuCraft 453 over at main131's track last year. The sound from the Phoenix sound system is awesome - mine is temporarily dumb pending a fix by our electronics maven, Neil R.

Sir - can you post a vid on YT for us to use for a comparison? When my Sierra system finally snuffs it, I'd like to try something else, and I have QSI in a Dash 9 already - v pleased with it.

Thanks Richie. The QSI is the one I have heard "in the flesh" and it is impressive. I expect that it will be the one I opt for.
Some of the curves on thr Rockeryridge look to be tighter than R3. Is that the case? My K27 won't accept anything less than R3.

Hi Keith
All the curves on my line are R3 some of which are S bends had a few problems at first with the pony truck coming off found it to be the camber of the track once the track was level all was fine . I do wish now that i used 10ft dia curves now but at the time i built my line LGB R3 were the biggest.

I see, it is just the sheer size of the K27 that makes the curves look smaller!
BTW Which QSI card is appropriate? The Aristo one or the Magnum? The QSI site isn't too informative about it.

Incidentally, I posted a query about getting the boiler front (actually the smokebox face) off. It is easy, it seems that it can be prised off without a problem.
Back later - off to shift 2tons of rubble at son No 1's!

Hi Peter / Keith
I got my QSI sound card from Jeremy at Dragon G Scale , As i run on analogue i got myself the Quantum Engineer Advaned Controller to get all the sounds you have on DCC also had a Supercap fitted to the sound card which is like a battery back up for when i change direction with my Train Engineer so not to loose sound .

Hi Peter
I think Richie has answered your query. I have trawled the internet but Jeremy's price seems as good as any and we know the service is first class.

Thanks Nico I could not decide which I ought to be buying - eventually. I have to rebuild a short section of track first not to mention allow the dust to settle on the purchase of the loco!

It is never a dull moment with the K27.
I have realigned the tight section of track - badly I think but at least the loco can now negotiate the whole railway except that I cannot rely on it to run smoothly through the R3 points. It is a bit like negotiating a minefield. Sometimes it goes through OK and at others - "bang" it is off the rails.
One thing I have noticed when rerailing and pushing the loco without the power on is that the marker lights illuminate because the motor is generating.
I did have one debacle with it. Although the loco had run around the circuit over 50 times without incident and passed through Playhouse bridge with the tiniest margin of clearance I was not anticipating the loud "clunk" and silence which marked its coming together with the bridge facade.
The loco must have gone through at at fractionally greater angle than previously and managed to burst the front ply panel off even though it was held by two screws.:nail:
Fortunately the loco did not suffer any damage and the bridge fronts have now been modified.
