Barby Nursery railway for sale.

As a seller they may have been better to roughly measure the track length and number of points. Listed each loco and rolling stock (the numbers are underneath). The same for the vehicles, buildings, controllers, transformers etc.
It is amazing how itemized things add up in total rather than getting an overall view where a safe bid is made rather than a calculated one. After all, it is just a large roundy roundy mainly flat layout which much of it may end up in a skip. I've seen entire 'built not so long ago houses' end up in skips because of the time it takes to dismantle and recycle. Large beams and all trashed and wasted. Hopefully some 'old scrounger' is making a buck at the tip pulling nails out.

So its now at over 11.5K!!!

I actually went to view this setup maybe 4 or 5 years back. Sadly the guys wanted big money for it all so only got a few new old stock wagons in very faded boxes. From looking at the layout then, most of the rolling stock/locos were sun bleached. The worst being one of the RhB red baggage cars which was bright pink from the UV!!! Most of the building had or were in the process of falling down, but may well be a complete kit of parts.
Its a very poor listing with no making clear whats included. As already mentioned, the video has many locos/stock that are not included.
I did have a little bid on it, but at this price, it can't be a trader unless they don't know what they are buying!

An hour to go, and a bid of £11600 pending....

I wonder how much of it will re appear on e bay in the weeks and months ahead.

SOLD! £11600

Well......... It might have..

If the buyer was relying on what they saw in the video, they will be disappointed..

Personally, I am not sure there is that much value in what there is?:think: - Above my spend, so did not lick the end of the pencil, and tot it up..

It's back...

Got a re list notification on my ebay list.

BIN, anyone got 25K going spare, or is it BIN, as in large skip.

Wondered if the buyer pulled out or the sellers did? With all the wear and UV damage, I thought 11k was far too much. It'll never sell for £25k
Shill bidding springs to mind. I'm thinking of submitting an offer of £1100 - you never know.

All the feedback is over 5 years old with only the oldest one being negative.

It's a bit suss because there was only two bidders that went neck to neck from £6,900 all the way up to £11,600. The lower figure is all it's probably worth (just a guess without comprehensive listing details).
If the winner decided not to purchase, it would then be offered to the second highest bidder but they may have cooled down by then and passed it in or thought if the person they were competing with bailed then it is not a legit auction because the winner's bid no longer means anything. Perhaps there was a shill involved. Who knows? Logic to me thinks it should then only be offered for the next bid higher than the 3rd highest bidder which was way down at £6,900 but that's not how auctions work. People get carried away with auctions and their bidding can become an emotional flurry rather than a pre-calculated punt and there can be disingenuous players involved. :nerd:

Personally I think the seller should give me a call to take it off their hands for £1100.00.

It's the best offer we know about so far... At least it's a genuine one. :)
Maybe we should start the G Scale Central Syndicate to avoid bidding against each other and when we win, can all argue over the tired LGB SNCF Mikado and faded pink Pullmans afterwards. :giggle:

So we'll put you down for the 2 axle green starter set coaches then - Check! ;)
