Barby Nursery railway for sale.

I have to ask myself why so little care and thought has gone into the marketing of these items, irrespective or even because of their condition. I'm also surprised that the listing has no been challenged and taken down, especially with that link to a video that shows stock that is not included. Very iffy. Max

Exactly! You could put the first auction attempt down to the seller being rushed and just not going to the effort but they haven't lifted their game.
It's not as if you can 'trick' someone in giving away £25,000! That is a lot of money, like 50 grand in my local currency. Perhaps it cost that much when it was all bought full retail along with construction costs but it's probably all half worn out and if it all was glued and nailed down to the structural timbers underneath it may be next to impossible to get much value from it in monetary terms once all sawn up. Most don't build with disassembly in mind. They just do what is cheap and easy. I think the seller places great value on it like it had in it's heyday but now that it has served it's purpose, worn out and passé thinks it's best to keep it all abstract like a fairytale using magical thinking to try and get a large sum of money for it. It won't work! Anyone fool enough would have already lost all their money long ago.

The present owners have no real interest in it..

I believe they mainly wanted the site for their hire-car fleet storage??

They probably think it has some great value, but do not know the first thing about what they have.
Those who have tried to keep it running, have had problems with access, and have used their own money. I am led to believe there was never any formal arrangement between the owners, and this group?
A number of people would go out, clean the track, and clean things up a little, and then there would be a running session, a day or so later.. It would then be left until another time when they could get access. Possibly only 3-4 times a year.

There is no real 'theme' to it. It is mainly LGB, so European, and is not a good-fit to a 'British' heritage railway site. The cost of a building to house it, maintenance, staffing (even volunteer's) would be a headache?
Unless you are a Graham Lee, or Sir Alfred, you could not give it a private home.

'We' and the Shades of the Harz, were very lucky.. As is the layout that is being installed at the W&L..

Price has dropped from £25k to £23k, but still double what was originally bid....
