Dead Corpet

Are we certain it's not been chipped??
Nemo's picture shows the black socket empty whilst the loco in doubt shows that socket "loaded"..............or is that socket for something else???

I have heard from the seller this morning , he has agreed to refund, so I will be posting the loco back to Bratislava today !

shame it couldnt be figured out. If you were on my side of the pond, I would have had you post it to me to straighten it out. I do repair work for a shop here in the states plus whatever comes thru the door. Atleast you got a refund, hope you find another that runs properly. Cheers Mike

I guess it's irrelevant now that the loco's going back to the seller, but to answer the question: from the photos I believe the black socket simply takes the feed to/from the cab switch?

It does seem a shame to go through all the disappointment, time and cost (to the seller hopefully?) of having to send the loco back, without the opportunity for someone confident in servicing LGB locos to take a look at the problem on Garry's behalf and verify there is indeed an irrepairable fault and not just some silly minor issue. On the other hand, sounds like the seller's being fair so let's hope it's resolved to Garry's satisfaction.

well garry
its a drag that youve gone through this, but at leaset theres no dispute with the seller, and despite the inconvenience youll get a refund
(ive had a tooth and nail fight once over an ebay purchase-time conduming and frustrating how folks can simply lie)

now
the good news is, once you get one in good order, youll love the loco-i think it is perhaps the best proportioned loco from LGB, just beautiful to watch when run slowly-add a smoke unit and theyre superb (and if you do, remember to remove the stack swiveling cover-othterwise it WILL melt if inadvertantly left over the smoke unit -i simply remove them and put them away to avoid this, as the part is also a bit delicate

the smoke unit is as easy as threading the unit down the stack with the body shell removed and then and plugging into the board (there is no polairty issue)-now youre getting experience too!

i think the green is the best

but i still want a cambrai version in red

sned us pics when you get the new one please
love your avatar too!

Return or fix?
I suppose it depends what you paid for it, but I would have thought a fix was not too difficult.

This is correct, the black 4 pin plug goes to the switch in the cab, its unplugged so that I can completely remove the body/
Me personally, I'd have persevered with it and got it sorted, it couldn't have been too difficult as the electrics are basic inside and with the help on here you know your not working on your own.

I' ve got a red one Steve & I love it hence my desire for a green one. I will certainly post some pictures of the replacement.

A quick update , refund eventually recieved , bid now in on another one. From Germany this time !

Update again, missed out on the German one, and the buy it now one I was watching was sold before the Slovakian seller returned the money :wits:
As the loco was to be a replacement for my ageing and feeble Bachmann 2-4-2 Baldwin tank I have opted to replace like for updated/uprated like .

gary
Corpets are great locos-dont give up
find a good one
youll be delighted, im certain

they are, imho, one of the best proportioned and beautiful locos ever made by LGB
and they run so smoothly too

I will be keeping an eye out for a green one Steve, as said I love my red one.

Garry,

If you get yourself one of the modern Bachmann Lyn you won't be disappointed; just about the best value for money loco around at the moment I reckon. Solid as a rock and pulls like a champion; only slight disadvantage is that there is some fairly fragile detail, at least on the US outline versions. I love mine; only problem is that it is the last track powered loco I have left. That'll soon be fixed following Tony's post in the battery section of the Forum, however!

Steve
