Fake glacier

I wanted to avoid electric as I dont fancy laying catenary just yet (playing with panties is okay though 
) so it's started:
Piko BR 218 in red at €171 in t'post.
Bunch of playmo coaches on watch list (they are discontinued)
Magazine concerning conversion from play to model on order. :wave:

For those who haven't seen my 'railway' is surrounded by high walls, so an ascending track should be easy using brackets and leave the possibility to install rack later.

By the way, if I remember rightly George converted one coach to a baggage car or similar to the dining car, any pixxies of it anywhere?

Well the story so far is a red Piko 218 sitting on the table with a snowplow on, the horny chimneys go on after painting. There are 4 out of 6 Playmo coaches sitting alongside although one got dismantled for scientific investigation, I scanned the Playmo 'Panorama express' logo and intend spraying it on the loco as per the Sylt express, thus:
one coach has a roof missing, but no problem as it will be made up to look like this a bit kind of slightly, thanks to 3mm plastic from the local hardwear shop in the right red!
First problem: the loco is big, might need it's own track...
Second problem: Playmo peeps have no knees so seats will have to be cut to get 1:24 people in (it was the seats or loads of passengers with no legs and I can't model wheelchairs).
Strangely SWMBO is no problem, she likes it! Hooray

My recollection of this scenario is that it's cheaper to go and ride on the Glacier Express than it is to have an LGB loco and 4 coaches.

Very true! I have an LGB loco and 4 coaches, just checked a holiday quote for a 4 day holiday; the LGB set would have paid for me and my wife to go. Tempting, but I'd rather have the model for now, plus I can see it running whenever I like!
Maybe the real thing sometime in the future...

Anyway the idea is to do both, thus Piko dismal and Playmo coaches, I'll do a pixxie tomorrow, the setup isn't far from the truth and (wait for it, wait for it) affordable!
