Feuriger Elias (LGB 2050) - Fiery Elias

'But I must admit the Stainz isn't a engine'

? Its brilliant have you ever taken one to bits? Amazing bit of engineering. Especially for the 'cheap' loco for a 'train set', bullet proof

Safest thing is to look for one with pickup skates - then at least you'll know it won't be another growler! ;)
Actually I'm not sure whether any 2060s were made with growler gearboxes or not, but the skates are a good way to be 100% sure....

John.

2060s were made with Growler mechanisms. I have seen one. There were only three basic types of growler locos 2060, the steam tram and the various permutations of the Stainz

As you say the non growler 2060s are bombproof and very solid. As is the Playmobil Diesel 4050 etc. A very LGB inspired mechanism, lots of character and usually very good value....

eBay item number: 122000517378 This one is very good value - A track powered version of the late RC loco

eBay item number: 371625486536 This one too.

eBay item number: 171999774045 A nice cheap red one

eBay item number: 182148096818 a more expensive but original red one.

I don't think Henri was criticising the Stainz, just saying that having already got one (albeit a growler that won't get run very often!) he is not in the market for another one at the moment - he's looking for something different for his next loco....

Jon.

Someone mention a Stainz......................................2015-09-26 11.44.12.jpg 2015-09-26 11.44.33.jpg

I like 'm both! The Schoema has a nice 60's look while the KoF is more from the '80's in my opinion.
I have an example of each. After the Stainz in the Passenger set, I brought a Shoema, then later a KoF. Both excellent engines for the new starter.

And I also now have another Stainz, an older model, No. 1....

Oh, Pugs, you are a one..... ;)

This is of course where Mike pops up and reminds us that he has BOTH of those.... ;)

But then I have a fine pair of Dinglers.....

Oh boy... how things run out of hand... I've been quoted only half. The Stainz isn't in my top 5 of wannahave engines. My interest is more diesel oriented. Those small steam engines, I dunno...
The Elias is just drop dead charming.

Steam is wonderful but I like diesel better. A lot. :mask: I'm not that old yet.
Maybe when my G scale hunger is satisfied, they appear on my 'what's next to buy'.

You can always send Stainz's to me, Always got room for more ............

Do they R1?

I like em! But not on my layout... They're a bit too large

66s only do R3 minimum, so yes, they might be too big for you Henri....

Aha, my cunning plan worked, I just knew you wouldn't be able to resist. :wait:
I had one of the D10s and it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, fortunately there is a large space under the bonnet where you can add weight, and just by chance when I left the last printers I took a pig of lead with me. You can guess the rest :nerd:

If you like Disesels, these are pretty good value. Chipped and Sound included.

As you can see I have fiddled with mine to make it look like an NG Machine.

Plus there is a new livery version that's just hit the stores, in DB blue and cream.....

Jon.
True indeed, mine has been messed around to look a bit like a Harz Kamel, hence the White Line at the base added with White Go Faster Car Tape.
