Hello Doc, welcome to the forum.
that's no holdup! that's a fat chance to make a lot of plans, of how the layout shall be.The biggest holdup is that we are currently renting quite a small place,
Yeah more like a Commer van, the buba yaga's are taking care of the Boohunka's.G’day Alan and thanks! You are close with the van, but it is an East German Barkas B1000. Normally there are a few Trabi’s to keep it company.
Cheers mate!Hello Doc, welcome to the forum.
I like the way you think mate! I’m not very popular when I take over the dining room table as a lokomotive repair shop… which traditionally happens in about a week or so!that's no holdup! that's a fat chance to make a lot of plans, of how the layout shall be.
draw a perfect plan - let the ink dry for a week or two - look at the plan and draw a better one... rinse and repeat.
(for me somewhere between the tenth and the fifteenth they start to look very similar)
some call that "armchair-modeling" - something i always enjoy between a boring old and a fascinating new layout.
and be welcome!
ps: if you should be too hasty with the planning, you can fill the shelves in the living with scratch-built buildings and stuff.

Ever driven one? The driving position is in front of the axle so a strange sensation when steering around corners. The Commer vans were so cool with their wheels covered by the bodywork.
Isn't that because the front wheels are closer together than the back? The GPO place next to where I did my apprenticeship always seemed to have one on it's side where the driver had gone to fast through the gateEver driven one? And you wouldn't even know it had happened, just drove through there this morning.Welcome Doc from Perth, WA. I love Cairns. Spent a few days there recently and went on the Kuranda train. We were on the Spirit of Queensland overnight train to Brisbane which was affected by that big explosion just north of Brisbane!
Geoff
Never had the opportunity to drive one, but sounds pretty cool. Big airport fire trucks are often set up that way too. I had the opportunity to drive one ages ago, but was concentrating on not running into anything! My mum and dad were living in Luxembourg when they met and lived there for 4 years in total, so it’s a special place to our family. I’ve been a few times and love it, but last time we were there, there was so much construction happening and I kept getting lost! Ever driven one? The driving position is in front of the axle so a strange sensation when steering around corners.
Where did you learn to say good day in Luxembourgish? Don't tell me you are from Trier.
I did, it isn't. Apart from the steering the engine is pathetic, the gearbox a waste of space and the lack of a bonnet worrying in case of an accident.Never had the opportunity to drive one, but sounds pretty cool
I have been here for 41 years and the construction was and still is never ending, I need GPS to drive around Kirchberg thse days.last time we were there, there was so much construction happening and I kept getting lost!
well, you must make SWMBO* an offer, she can't resist.I’m not very popular when I take over the dining room table as a lokomotive repair shop…
Thats because it is an ARE (Acronym Rich Environment)well, you must make SWMBO* an offer, she can't resist.
(oh, no! i did not mean the Marlon Brando kind of offer!)
i mean, support her with a hobby of her own. best one, that occupies space and is dirt producing. that should leave you on a longer leash.
(my best wife of all collects garden grills and plants. she buys them, plants them, waters them till they are dead, then pays a gardener to dig them out. in a semi desert climate...) (but she doesn't plant and water the grills)
*) SWMBO = she who must be obeyed. these Brits here love to hide things behind capital letter salads.
The world is going mad! And I’ll be sure to keep clear of those vans!I did, it isn't. Apart from the steering the engine is pathetic, the gearbox a waste of space and the lack of a bonnet worrying in case of an accident.

Yeah them and the Bedfords with the sliding doors, but my all time favourite van is the Morris J type, I would love to have one..L
