Hartlebury Valley Railway

Trainspotting on a footbridge... that reminds me.
When I was young they built a new residential area in my city, it was to have a new train station but it wouldn't be built for a few years because the railway was about to be widened from 2 to 4 tracks. So they put up a temporary station, and it had just such a wooden footbridge. Once I stood on the bridge while an Intercity came through at 140 km/h.... the whole bridge was shaking like it would collapse. Never again.

When I was working for Philips in Best, I went to the new station there which was built underground. Very much like the London Tube, until a heavy ore train with four 6400 class diesels came speeding through.

The noise and vibration was horrendous....

Four 6400s is no small business. By the way, I liked their look better than any other freight loco, at least back then with the NS colours before privatisation.
