Hartlebury Valley Railway

Moved house on 1st April last year and had to lift the Hartlebury Valley Railway . Photos show the garden after lifting the track, the new owners will have a lovely Japanese raised garden...
However only moved 100 metres up the road so in May it will be rebuilt.

Hope you have more room to enjoy a new line in.

Hi some videos of my temporary Hartlebury Valley Railway;
Plus some images of the garden. My new railway will run all around the edge of the lawn and behind and around the log cabin. To the side of the log cabin, in front of the sleeper retaining wall, will be a marshalling and shunting yard.

Thanks,
Mark

Nice lots more room for the Railway.

The Hartlebury Valley Railway lives on...
Garden now landscaped and started to lay some track and place some buildings etc
Eventually the track will run around the log cabin to form a loop.

A little more track laying and placing of buildings, then some running of the Sumpter Valley Mallet, my favourite locomotive...10D9C259-5549-4B42-A527-CD88D5D89E20.jpegFA871B50-A57C-483B-9E9C-5DD84AAC6889.jpeg77F7BC70-4F0C-45C6-BE36-394DCE394830.jpegEE81A666-3CD0-41DD-AB3C-80FDC306A24F.jpeg2223A259-D687-4B87-BAA8-56ABF942889F.jpeg3F09DC94-ADC9-46EA-BE9E-F0EAC65B13C2.jpeg9763249C-85A7-45C9-95AD-A9BBC581234A.jpeg5EC65709-61AF-4F5B-8177-263F69886646.jpegE95CFA41-4CAC-4328-929A-2DEA4785BDEE.jpegC071AC87-CF5F-439A-86CD-BBC423B8ABAD.jpegE95CFA41-4CAC-4328-929A-2DEA4785BDEE.jpeg

Some pictures showing my 5 new Bachmann tanker wagons purchased from Sandy at Scottish Garden Railways. Being hauled by my faithful Sumpter Valley Mallet. Really pleased with them as never had any tanker wagons before. Also just fitted a new motor to my windmill which is working well. Hoping for some warmer weather shortly…20240128_162233_Original.jpeg20240128_162242_Original.jpeg20240128_162354_Original.jpeg20240128_162258_Original.jpeg20240128_162248_Original.jpeg

Mark, do you happen to remember where you bought the lanterns that were on your old layout?

Like the one on the right in this photo:

You can find them in Garden Centres here in the UK Jasper....

Decided with the weather not being too bad today, had some sunshine this afternoon, that I’d add a couple of sidings, one either side of the steps. Then got my WP&Y loco and caboose out for a run…IMG_0534.jpegIMG_0533.jpegIMG_0532.jpegIMG_0530.jpegIMG_0528.jpegIMG_0529.jpegIMG_0531.jpeg

So now all you need is a removable bridge across the steps and you've got yourself a passing loop.
Far be it from me to give you ideas

Looks great. Very neat. Just wondered, did you consider including any pockets for plants or plant pots?

Rik

Further Extension to the Hartlebury Valley Railway. Made the two end to end sidings into a passing loop where a bridge, yet to be built, will be located. The aluminium angle is on order to do this, and I found a supplier who will supply it all cut to length, even down to 75mm.IMG_0544.jpegIMG_0543.jpegIMG_0540.jpegIMG_0541.jpegIMG_0547.jpegIMG_0546.jpegIMG_0551.jpegIMG_0557.jpegIMG_0558.jpegIMG_0559.jpegIMG_0560.jpeg

A home made bridge has now been added to the opening. I built this myself from aluminium extrusions purchased online which were all cut-to-length, even down to the railing uprights at 75mm, so no cutting whatsoever. It’s my first attempt at bridge building and I’m pleased with the result…IMG_0562.jpegIMG_0563.jpegIMG_0564.jpegIMG_0565.jpegIMG_0566.jpeg
