Harz HSB in Berkshire

Hi James, here are some more pictures from April 30, 2024
There was still snow on the Brocken, the new depot is also finished. Now the HSB can repair everything on the locomotives themselves, the old depot can still be seen in the pictures from the last post.

Greetings Helmut
Great photos, thanks for sharing.

You were right! I found another 2-10-2 second-hand at a reasonable price and couldn't resist!
I have 2 also, one an LGB one the other is a Metal Aster LGB one, if you find one Asters of them sub £3k you will be lucky.

Are the Aster’s worth the money? I thought they had an older sound chip in them so were overpriced?
Probably older by todays standards but the sound is good to my ears, but the metalwork is a different story and has to be seen to be appreciated.

Here is my HSB DR.

Just found this thread. Excellent railway, and a good read. Looking forward to future updates!
Thanks Duncan, a large parcel arrived from Germany over the Christmas break so I'm hoping we get some reasonable weather to get out and test it. Stay tuned, they'll be more photos soon.

Spring 2025 should see the construction of the platforms and the branch line so plenty more to keep me occupied.

Looks really good!

Can I ask, is that curved point/switch at one end of your main station/yard the Piko R5/3 one? Or have you found one of a larger radius?

The bridge looks cool; is it removable I guess? In your shoes I'd be tempted to rebuild the steps a foot or so towards the patio so you can avoid the bridge at the top, and bed the track more directly into the step; avoiding the need to add & remove the bridge, and step over it.
