Hunting success Aristocraft Class 66

The motor blocks are shared with the dash 9 as far as I am aware , there was also a problem with the plated wheels , (read gregs page)

I was under the impression there was only the one run of these (in the various liveries). I wasn't aware of any production differences such as the wheel mounting that you mentioned (though I've read about such changes in other Aristo models over the years). Where have you read about such differences with regard to the 66 (just out of interest)?

[edit] Ah - are you thinking that the sintered D-hub wheel changes that happened to the SD45 motor blocks also happened to the 66? I've never seen that applied to any 66, I thought the 66s were all made a long time before the 2012 SD45 run (as documented on Greg Elmasian's pages)[/edit]

There are two different types of chassis in that run < the fronts are different
You can see in the pics of these two , different lights and couplings

I was under the impression it was more the differences between the differing prototype production runs??
Certainly, those I have worked on have had differing lighting patterns, dependant on where that particular variant ran.

There seem to be two different types as the front set up is different regards the coupling , light set up(type) and the lashing rings

I put this down to the model mimicking the real life prototype, rather than just differing model production runs?? - I do not know enough about the '66 and its' variants to 'rivet count' this.

My main interest in the '66 is as the only (that I know of) RTR 'British' outline diesel no the market. - At this scale, and price.

Anything else 'G1' and British outline, comes as a set of parts.. Normally in brass.. Hence at a low-volume premium, and with a high probability of never getting to run and (in my case) possibly looking a bit naff.

Surely that's just detailing, not a fundamentally different production run? I have the german HGK version, I believe it has suitably different lighting patterns compared to the british livery models.

The motor blocks used are the same as my SD45.

Haha, much the same as me , first one I saw was in a model railway shop locally (Freightliner one) loved it presence and size , (just couldn't afford it ) now I have a fleet :), I think they are all the same production run , just 2 different variants

Is that HGK livery an Aristocraft original, or one you had / done yourself?

<edit>

Question answered in post as I was typing..

I would quite like to create a 'Tesco' ('less CO2'), or Stobart Rail, rake with suitably liveried '66 and containers.. - I can dream! ;)

Then, being based at Chasewater Railway, a 37 and a rake of 17 (or more) mucky MGR wagons would be nice! - Bu now we are talking 'lottery money' prices!! :eek::eek::eek:

All aristo ones are the 4 door body, later class 66`s ala "Evening Star) are 5 door bodies

Didn't know you could get a hatchback '66!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
I could live with just the livery change. - Do diesel-freaks count doors?? ;):(

Lol, , I was talking to someone about doing the evening star version , and that's exactly what he told me

Have my one not even run it as yet. Will look at hand rails and lights eventually when i get to run her.

The biggest difference on the 5 door ones is the much smaller fuel tank to keep the axle loading within spec.

There's also other differences like.....
Much bigger radiator grilles.
Two piece side windows - instead of three piece with quarter light.
Darkened glass.
Wing mirrors.
Frame mounted sand boxes.
Mini plough.
Swing buckeye couplers.
etc. etc.

Yes, but if I gave you an Aristo, repainted to a five door livery and number, would you run it?
